ALBANY — Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Morelle said he is pushing for a final vote on a bill to legalize the controversial sport of mixed martial arts in New York.
Gov. Cuomo included a provision to legalize MMA in his state budget proposal, but many lawmakers want to do it separately. In the Assembly, where the measure has been blocked the past six years, some who oppose the measure want a chance to speak out against it, Morelle, the bill sponsor, said.
The Senate earlier this year passed the bill.
